Communication and Development Manager

WANi Organization is seeking a part-time Communication and Development Manager to support our fundraising efforts. The manager’s responsibilities will include preparing development and communications plans, managing the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of current and prospective donors, identifying new sources of unrestricted support, and planning and implementing special fundraising events. This position will report directly to the Executive Director and work with other team members in Iraq. WANi is looking for someone that is a self-starter with excellent communication skills, as well as a highly organized person who is great at building relationships and engaging partners.


Specific areas of responsibility include:

Donor Research and Management

  • Develop an annual fundraising plan
  • Manage the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of current and prospective donors
  • Conduct research to identify new unrestricted and grant supporters with an affinity for WANi’s beneficiary group and mission
  • Organize development related meetings on behalf of WANi’s Executive Director with funders, key stakeholders, and donors in Iraq
  • Manage the donor management database system and reporting process
  • Work closely with WANi’s team and Board members to implement ongoing and new development strategies

Special Projects and Events

  • Manage any pre-planning, day of, and follow-up strategies for annual fundraising events
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of new special events
  • Coordinate with outside vendors including printers, caterers, designers, and photographers

Communications

  • Assist in developing and implementing an annual communications plan that supports the annual fundraising plan
  • Aid with management of regular communications with WANi’s diverse mix of corporate, government, foundation and individual donors
  • Write and distribute a quarterly e-newsletter for WANi’s donor base and key stakeholders
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Passion and commitment to WANi’s mission
  • Experience in nonprofit development
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Experience with technology systems, databases, and social media tools
  • College graduate interested in non-profit management and development field. BA required, MA preferred.
